Summer Talk Series at the Historic Dana Adobe in Nipomo
The Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos are proud to present the 2008 series of Summer Talks beginning July 12, 2008 and every other Saturday through September 26th at the Historic Dana Adobe, 671 S. Oakglen Avenue, Nipomo, CA. Each event begins at 1 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour except for Children’s Day which is a three hour event. The public is cordially invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before each talk. Tours of the Historic Adobe will be offered before and after each Talk. Soft drinks, water and Dana Adobe merchandise may be purchased at each event. Mark your calendars for these special Summer Talks:
July 12 1:00 PM - 400 P.M. Children's Day at the Dana Adobe
TOPIC: Wanda Porter, storyteller, shares about life at the Dana Adobe in the 1850s and then children will enjoy a number of activities including wool carding, corn husk doll making, roping and a piñata. All children should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Admission is free.

TOPIC: "Mi Casa es Su Casa; Visitors at the Dana" this enlightening talk will highlight some of the famous visitors to the Dana Adobe
Sept. 13 1:00 P.M. Samantha McTighe speaking on "Herbs of the Chumash"
TOPIC: focusing on which herbs and natural remedies may have been grown and gathered on the Rancho Nipomo
Sept. 27 1:00 P.M. Helen Daurio, Education Committee Chair and Lead Docent
TOPIC: "The Silent Women of Alta California" focusing on the lives of women who helped settle Alta California
The mission of DANA Inc. is to restore and preserve the Historic Dana Adobe, (Casa de Dana), and promote development of the Rancho Nipomo Living Historical Park as a means of enhancing knowledge and understanding of California's Rancho era, and to encourage an appreciation of the many peoples who contributed to that era's influence on the present and future of California.
The Historic Dana Adobe is open for visitors every Sunday from noon until 4:00P.M. For more information concerning membership, group tours, and volunteer opportunities call the Dana Adobe at 805 929-5679.
